In response to "Can anyone offer some tips on how to conduct myself on a business trip?" by Hotkiss

Don't be an idiot is always rule one.

1. If meals are not complimentary, won't your employer reimburse you for those? Not sure of your situation but if you're an employee and not a contractor they should. If you're a contractor, you might be able to deduct meals as a business expense (note: not tax advice).

2. Will the staff know the difference between you and the guests? If not, you should tip but you should really ask your boss about protocol.

3. I would overdress rather than underdress when meeting suppliers. Especially in your case since you are a young female. You don't want them dismissing you right off because you are inappropriately dressed for the meeting. It's sad, but that's the way it is.
