The Kinect, hands down.

The fact that you don't have to swing a controller at your expensive tv puts the Kinect ahead of the Wii on its own. Add in that the graphics are MUCH better, etc and it makes me wish we had saved the money we spent on getting the Wii in the first place and had just waited for the Kinect to come out.
The one you tried might have needed to be recalibrated, which is fairly easy to do. We haven't really had any problems along those lines.
