that makes me think of this: using cash is a frequent (and good) tip for when you're trying to work on finances and get spending down.

ccs and dcs are less real and more likely to be used unwisely.
even though my finances are in good shape, I still almost always want to manually have to go pay bills online - I only have a newspaper subscription that's autobilled, because there was some discount for that. everything else, I go do because it makes it more real and I have to actually see how things are.
