The bldgs in this district are all cutting security staff in order to save money and some guys are losing lots of hours or their jobs outright. I asked my sec. guard buddy if he was going to be affected by this and he said 'oh I'm keeping all my hours, but i'm still looking for something else'. I said 'Good. Make sure you don't tell your bosses anything until after you find something else. Finding work is hard these days.' He was all puffed up and pissy and was like, 'Oh they're gonna know I'm looking.' I reiterated the importance of not saying anything until he had something else lined up but I knew he wasn't listening.
The security staff in general is unhappy about all the changes so of course he went and said something to them about looking for a new job - just to 'show them'. After he blabbed they went and cut him from full time to 16 hours a week. Of course, he hasn't found another position yet and of course he has a child.
