if it happens, I imagine the tax would be similar (as a proportion of the whole) to tobacco, which is ~40% in the US. so if anything, that's low.

depends largely on what happens to the price if it's legalised. it's ebbed and flowed a fair bit in california, but I think largely decreased wholesale.
also, $600/ounce: insane-o pricing.
