I routinely go to three, but over the space of a couple of weeks.

Ralphs for the basics, Jon's for produce and some meat, Stater Bros for recycling and wine :)
I can walk to Ralphs if I just need a couple of things, the other two require driving.
Then there's the vet for dog food once a month or so, and Costco once a month.
