Watched Winter's Bone and didn't understand why characters did what they did (except JLAWR), so most of the movie made no sense (spoilers)

Her female friend tried to borrow the bf's van but couldn't. Twenty minutes later in the movie she shows up with the van. No explanation.
A guy takes her to an old burned out shell of a house covered in weeds and tries to get her to think that's where her father died. It's so old and overgrown that it's obviously not a recent fire, and she figures this out. Why would the guy even try this? It just makes him part of the conspiracy. Before she didn't think he had anything to do with it, but now she has questions.
The neighboring women who beat the crap out her suddenly have a change of heart and take her to where the father's body is. Why?
Since they constantly refer to the favorite method of body disposal (fed to pigs) or buried (distant 2nd), why is the dad's body dumped in shallow water?
The dad's brother who initially was violent with her and wanted her to stop decides to help her. Why?
Why did the cop pull them over towards the end?
Why did the brother have a death wish and act like he was going to pull a rifle and shoot the cop? They weren't carrying any drugs or doing anything illegal.
She lies to the cop and says somebody threw the hands up on their porch. Rather than reveal where the body is (which could be then given a decent burial which was something she thought was important early in the movie) she lies. Probably to not have an investigation started, but it would be easy enough for the cops to figure out that the hands weren't actually tossed on the porch.
The bail bonds company must be the worst bail bondsmen ever. They accept a pile of cash without getting the donor's info so they conveniently can't give it back to him. (So I'm thinking the donor is the one who wanted him out so they could kill him before he would talk, but this movie is not about solving any mystery or resolving much). They then give a bunch of cash to her at the end (why her? it should go to his wife if he's dead) Plus they don't get a receipt for it. They do provide the "happy" ending that she now has money to take care of her family, but other than that they really screw things up.
