Do any of you ever participate in any of those dinner fundraisers to raise funds for [local tragedy]? I can't figure out the logic here.

A local family lost 2 young girls (6 and 3) in a house fire this weekend. Mother, father and 7-month old daughter are fine (although they were all airlifted to hospitals or at the local one; they've all since been released). An 8-yr old daughter is still hospitalized. Very tragic.

I just received a notification of a "fundraiser" for the family, taking place tonight. I was interested, until I saw it was at Chick-Fil-A. Anyhoo - I saw that CFA will donate 25% of their profits tonight from customers who say the family's name while ordering. (So I guess if you're there just to eat CFA then your money all goes to CFA?) Included in the notification I received was information on the bank fund that's been set up in the family's name.

So I guess my question is, why would someone who wants to help this family participate in something where only 25% of my money spent is going to the family, when there are options out there that would allow 100% of my money spent (donated)to go to them?
