so, here is a work situation...

the person who does my equivalent job has missed about 6 days so far this year for various reasons. All put under 'sick days.' Some were, some weren't. She did break her left hand, and then, the next day, cut her right hand badly enough (trying to use a knife with a broken hand) to sever a tendon. So, i've been covering a lot, but, okay, fine.

Today she took a 'vacation' day to spend time with her daughter who is leaving town soon.

She just texted me (didn't phone - despite the fact that she really has no *good* hand at the moment). They need to do the surgery on her right hand, the tendon-severed hand, TOMORROW.
Five weeks of recovery. Basically, i have no idea how she'll be able to work at all. Her other hand is in a cast (she broke the bone on the outside edge).

Now, okay, that's fine. I don't mind covering. BUT i have a vacation booked March 7-12. For a friends wedding in Jamaica, it's paid for and it was not cheap. That is the TAIL end of the 5 weeks.

No way i am giving this up, but, it could be a little mayhem-ish here if she's not really able to do much, and i'm away.

it's wrong to be a littled miffed, right? (note - there is other drama in her life that resulted in a few of those sick days, which i think is why my sympathy is ebbing, quickly.)
