apparently, I try new fried things about once a year. mcdonald's has new fish mcbites.

storytime! I don't eat fried food very often, or go to McDonald's very often, for that matter; but every 1-2 years, I want a filet o' fish sandwich from there (something about the textures even more than flavors, maybe), so when I saw their new item I thought "maybe they're like that!"

no. they're pretty much just some sort of whitefish balls (no, not the anatomical kind), like you might find at a lesser buffet; and just not very tasty, plus surprisingly strongly fishy in flavor. *wrinkles nose*

(I know, but I haven't had anything but a granola/protein bar and/or yogurt for lunch in weeks, as I've not even made it outside much during workdays; and I had a few minutes after running an errand, and McD's was right there, and I thought I'd nab a fruit/yogurt parfait and maybe a salad. now I know!)

berytron says we haven't talked about mc'd's new mcbites yet - I tried the $1 (temp price) snack size yesterday

with a little salad for lunch. they're ok - could have told me they were veg. faux chicken, though, as they didn't have much chicken flavor. the meat texture was better than mcnuggets' have, to me. I know they're not, but they actually seemed kind of lowfat, too, and they weren't greasy at all. the habanero sauce I chose was tasty, if a little hot for hot's sake. tmi-ish: I seldom eat fried anything, so there's stomach-ick-risk when I do -- no problem with these. that said, I probably won't buy them again, esp. since the promo price goes away at the end of the week.
