i had to do this with my "mother" about 10 years ago, after not being in contact with each other for about the previous 30 years. part of me is sad and thinks i should just suck it up for her sake cause she's blood. but then the other part says all of these things were 99% of her own doing, and it's adversely affected me in ways that i probably still haven't fully fathomed for my whole life thus far. we can only do so much ourselves. some things just don't work despite how we might, ideally, wish them to be.
