especially with a parent, it's extra hard. I had some experience with that with my Mom in the past; but, fortunately, I figured out how to make things work with her as she is.
it takes quite a bit for generally positive, pollyanna-tendencied me to completely stop contact with someone; but I've done it in the past, and will have to do it again here, if nothing on his side changes, at least.
I've long known to be self-protective with most family members, to limit info. I share, limit contact with those who just can't be trusted to not have my back/my best interests/be users; but the just *slamming badness* from someone who had his moments but had at least some good ones in the mix has been tough to move past. it's only been days, though.
