I didn't say anything to him since he was there with two friends and enjoying his meal and conversation. It's a small, family owned place that normally only locals eat at. It wasn't crowded and I don't think the people there recognized him.
I asked the waitress if it was him and she said it was and that he's very friendly and willing to meet fans. I wasn't willing to walk up to his table but I told her to tell him that I really enjoyed him as Joe Head in The Search for One-Eyed Jimmy. It might have been his first film role, I don't know. But I know nearly no one else has seen that film or would mention it to him.
He laughed when she told him I was a fan of him from that film. He invited me over to sit with him and talk. Very nice and open man. We bullshitted about Brooklyn, what he was in town filming and what his plans were while he was here. He comes back to Brooklyn all the time and the place we were at was a favorite of his.
I spent maybe 10 minutes talking to him and his friends. Offered some advice on places to eat and go have some drinks and then left him to his meal. He was kind enough to give me a signed head shot.
