Wordpress can be needy and GoDaddy is expensive for hosting.

Are you going to be selling ads? If not, I'd do something like Tumblr or Wordpress.com that you can map a domain to but not have to deal with updates and whatnot. WP is so widely used that if you don't keep up with updates, you can get hacked pretty auickly.
