L = number of large print pages
S = number of small print pages

L + S = 21 (number of pages in article)
1800L + 2400S = 48000 (number of words in article)

Second equation reduces to
3L + 4S = 80

-3 x first equation is
-3L -3S = -63

Add the two equations to get
S = 17
