My LIR response about UFC 157. Watching the prelims but not buying the ppv. Main event will be lousy for 2 reasons...

...most female fighters are brawlers. There's not as much technique or finesse or skill as with the male fighters. At this point, female mma is where male mma was 10-15 years ago, people are still trying to figure out what works, and somethings work incredibly well (like Gracie jiu jitsu or Rousey's armbar) until suddenly it's stopped and then everyone knows how to stop it like (like the Dolphins and the wildcat offense). We also think Rousey will win in the first round with an armbar, like she much has in all her fights. She's only had 6 by the way, and she's fighting to defend a championship. The male Strikeforce champs aren't even getting automatic title shots. Her first fight in the UFC is a main event on a ppv.
If you feel a 4 or 8 woman tournament isn't possible to pull off, how will the UFC pull of an entire division?
I polled the guys that usually come and watch and they all think it should be on a free card on fox or fx. Much more experienced flyweights had their title fight on free tv and an interim belt was also defended recently on free tv. Why is Rousey so special that she gets all this hype (people were also upset she got a title shot in Strikeforce with a 4-0 record). When I suggested I wasn't going to get the ppv nobody objected. 4 of the 5 are still coming over to watch the prelims.
