I enjoyed the shield a few times when people would continue to hammer at me and then a teammate would come up from behind and take them out

it served me plenty well last night on regicide but again, maybe that's the FFA aspect. Shield works well for me on big team too in my sniper loadout when I'm getting attacked to fall back to cover.
Not sure what would work better for me. Maybe I need to work on an offensive mindset for slayer. Most of my instincts are to be defensive when it comes to the loadout going back to the armor lock in Reach
