It occurred to me this morning, maybe you're supposed to appreciate what happens in the jump cut.

How did that lone dancer finally get everybody to join in? Like the scene in the movies where the character says "I just want a few friends to come over", jump cut to his parents' house being thoroughly trashed by an enormous crowd.
It's sort of a visual expression of "boy, that escalated quickly!"
