Disagree about not moving things along.

It (hopefully) let Carl know he couldn't keep running off without backup. It also let Rick know that Carl is also at the point where "go hide in the car" isn't the best option for him. It should give Rick hope that he isn't too far gone to return, but he needs to pull himself together soon. And it really should have let Rick know that he needs to be open to letting others join the group (specifically Michonne), but he should vet them first.
