To be fair, he's hardly a paragon of virtue ... but the facts of the case as I know them are absolutely ludicrous from a computer science perspective.

I could be wrong, of course :) Rose-coloured glasses and all that.
But the way I see it, he caught AT&T with their pants down, and instead of AT&T getting punished for their incompetence, he's getting punished for being a whistleblower (admittedly, he blew the whistle in an uncool way, but that's still what's happening. AT&T gets off scot free for their own colossal fuckup.)
