They teased all season that he had a quick draw advantage that nobody could overcome. There were something like 8 references to it in 13 episodes, many of them subtle. The time when they faced off in Wynn's trailer, I absolutely believed Raylan was in grave danger and he didn't even know it. In Slaughterhouse, Limehouse chops off the arm and thereby negates this advantage. I found the entire sequence quick draw arc refreshing in its subtlety.
