they're just learning about money in her class
(she still struggles a bit with her reading, but she's realllly taking to math, which I think is pretty fantastic - she wants to do an entire week's worth of math homework in one sitting)

She has a big jar of change, so I was spilling some out on the floor and have her count it out.

She had a $5 bill in the jar, so I took that out and ask her what she'd have to add to it to make $6.

She thought a second and then promptly counted out four quarters (they'd only learned about quarters on Friday)

Considering that it required both subtraction and counting money, I was pretty happy with how she dealt with that.

Man, the things you end up bragging about when you have a kid....
