I would like to see how they solve this only for CA or "eight states" and still say it's equal protection.

When a certain segment of the population has to go out of state to get married, and most people don't, that doesn't seem like equal protection to me. When a certain segment of the population has to worry about whether their marriage will be recognized in other states, while the majority doesn't have to have that worry, that doesn't seem like equal protection either.
