A different perspective on why some of the parents' of autism children are necessarily cool and scientifically detached about vaccine issues.

I'm not arguing that they are right about vaccines (and I don't think they are), nor do I think research money should be diverted to look into this any further when it could be much better spent somewhere else.

But for a whole lot of these parents, they've watched their seemingly "normal" children suddenly and dramatically regress at around 12-24 months old(right around the age they are also getting vaccines) to the point where these children no longer speak or even make eye contact.

Yes, their sample size is small to the point of being anecdotal and yes, correlation does not equal causation, but there are a huge number of psychological reasons why these parents might feel like vaccines were to blame for their child's condition. They aren't necessarily stupid or uneducated (some are, some aren't) and they certainly deserve your compassion, not your derision.
