I may have asked this last time I went to a wedding but I forget: Who do you make the gift check out too?

Like, you make it out to the couple naturally, but do you assume she is taking his last name? Or use her maiden name?

google sez: just the groom, unless you're sure the bride is taking his name and/or they have a joint account. I'd write "congratulations x & y"

Make it out to the one you know. If they don't have a joint account it can be a hassle!

we rec'd checks in both my maiden and supposed married name(s) as well as with mel's name on it too. The bank cashed all of them. -- nm
