The Gmail team is allowing form to trump function which is the exact OPPOSITE of how design should work.

Form follows function.
They need to stop hiding stuff, stop streamlining stuff. It isn't useful, it isn't helpful and it now takes me longer to compose emails. They say it's "great for quick emails" but it isn't.
