That's not really old school.

Old school was often starting the young guys in the bullpen, then moving them to the rotation. That kind of limited their pitches.
And the limits now are relative to previous years so that there isn't a major increase in innings pitched, which makes sense to me. Or coming off of injury, which also seems like the right move to me.
