Gotta saw, the last two big reveals on Lost have been tragically unsurprising (spoils)

The one about Danielle Rousseau was obvious. We knew there was a French shipwreck on the beach, then we see a French woman who's pregnant, and we know we're time traveling. This would only be a surprise to you if you hadn't been watching the series in the past, in which case, you wouldn't "get" the reveal.
The one about Faraday's mother was just as obvious. We knew there was an old woman. We knew she was in L.A. We knew she was involved in time travel. I'd say it's like putting 2 and 2 together, but it wasn't even that hard. I assumed the old woman was Faraday's mother from the instant we knew Faraday had a mother that was relevant to the plot.
