towel to protect his pants meant that he "built a stance", or whatever the wording of the rule is, and should have called a penalty on himself. Of course, the scorecard had been signed and he was DQ'd (forget who it was).
Thing is that every golfer digs in his feet in a bunker, moving the ground around, and nobody is called for building a stance.
