This was/continues to be a very normal situation in Winnipeg. Huge housing spike over the last decade and change.

My wife bought a 750sq ft bungalow without a finished basement for $130K in 2008. We put $15K in and sold for $178K in 2011.
My 2012 to 2014 assessment on my current home went up 10%.
Some cheaper homes have doubled in price since 2003-04.
