tons of cheap accommodations there. That location is good because it's close to both the Presidio (and further, the Golden Gate Bridge) and the Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf area.
If you want something more romantic, my first thought is to find something at the marina or on Embarcadero. *shrug*
