SD can be very very nice; and, odds are, you can find something less expensive there for those dates.

SF is spendy in regular times, but add in special events and conventions, and bammo.
it wouldn't be so bad for a regular trip to stay by the SF airport; but, for the start of your honeymoon and with limited time, I don't know that I'd choose it.
