Having different accounts according to what type of Tweets you want to check. Like the folders you would have in Reader: one for local news, one for pop culture/fun news, one for upcoming events, one for music...
Come to think of it, it sounds like a pain, but would be a last resort if I don't find a suitable substitute for Reader.
