yeah, my grandmother died around the new year, and that's kind of how I felt about her. she was in many ways similar

racist, played favourites with her children and grandchildren, set them off against each other, was never really anything but awful to my mother (her daughter). I was still sorry when she died. even if she was mostly evil, she had her moments. I choose to remember the moments, even if they were few and far between. mostly I felt bad for my mom, who continued to go phenomenally out of her way to help her, despite the decades of terrible treatment.
