Please be very careful if doing private.

One of my better friends arranged a private adoption, paid for the girl's doctor visits, hospital stays, along with a pretty hefty sum of cash.

She ended up being a closet drug user, and they "ended up" with a child with a TON of special needs. Now while they love the child, obviously, they now have someone who will likely depend on them for life.

I am always concerned for people who go that route.
