road trip, drive up to Santa Barbara area, Cambria, San Luis Obispo, Carmel/santa cruz....

or do the back side of the state, Mojave, up to Mono Lake, then cross back over Yosemite
drive all the way up to napa, you have that town, calistoga, sonoma, head to the beach for the "Birds' hotel/restaurant
