No - there's snobbery about reality just like here. He got his big break in the 90s on a very popular show about police in a small country town

But when he left the show, work must have dried up because he did the Mole and was also narrator of Border Security, which was a hugely popular reality show about Customs and Quarantine.
He's been shuttling between Australia and Hollywood for a while - like he was on Ugly Betty. But he mostly seems to get roles in awful productions like Atlas Shrugged Part 1 and Richard Burton in the Liz and Dick Story with Lindsay Lohan.
If he's got himself a show, it's probably the most remarkable Australian success story since Simon Baker.
