Continuing the Cloud Atlas reincarnation thread with JackDawson (spoils)

"in the book, there is no connection between the other characters - only the main character in each segment - the comet tattoo, the dreams of the song, and the general themes of fighting against adversity and evil."

In the movie there are connections between the non-main character of each segment. Hugo Weaving plays a racist/bigot in the beginning but turns into the devil by the end. The record store employee in the 70's is played by the actor who was the composer of the music. Seems logical that he would not be able to stop playing it after playing once to check for defects. The movie is full of moments like this, and there are themes (like cannibalism...intellectual and physical) that go through all of the segments.
