...is what I would say if I was a 13-year-old girl.
She's an instructor here on campus. She's gorgeous. Amazonian in stature, Kate Moss in shape, with strawberry blonde hair and freckles and she wears sun dresses. SUN DRESSES! TO WORK! Working with her on a project but didn't know quite how to approach her until... bam! She shows up on OK Cupid. Well, the way the system works, she knows I saw her online, so I gotta say something. But she says she's not dating people from work. Yeah, but, 80% of the people here are from work!
*sigh*
Saw her over the weekend when I was taking the kids out for the little one's birthday. Friendly wave, nothing more. Had to meet with her today, give some training at a meeting she had organized. I feared it would be very awkward. I really don't want to be around people who have rejected me (which is quickly become the entire female population of the campus). Instead, I just flipped the switch and it was show time. I'm REALLY good at giving presentations and training. Made a demonstration that included a cute video of my kids (got lots of cooing from the audience). Got to demonstrate my language skills. One of the women remarked on how cute my kids were. Turns out she's friends with the instructor and they were together when there was that friendly wave on Saturday. We - the 3 of us - chatted afterward. Talked about my kids. My little one and the instructor share the same name. Yadda, yadda, yadda. You know, chit chat. I've done everything I can to make her notice me and reconsider. It's up to her now.
Gotta say, I'm feeling a lot better lately. I'm getting a lot more eyeballs on my dating profile, a lot more smiles from women around town. Perhaps it's confidence, or the weather, or I'm dressing better. Truthfully, it's probably the seasonality kicking hormones into high gear. I'll take it.
