ok. go for a marble then glass....look around your islands, are you in a desert or are there lots of towns nearby?

i think game play is different in busy areas than outlying nowheres. also an old established world is lot more peaceful than a violent new server.
so put academies on all your colonies, you should push through as fast as you can, 3 months. you can't do much till then.
all you need is one navy boat in each harbor. no one should pillage you anymore. if they do, we'll pound htem for rudeness.
but remember, its so much easier to move your home area now then later when you have six or 8 towns.
build one or two villages, then decide if that's the area for you.
don't build all your towns in one cluster like most players.
