copied and pasted from a randomly-placed items e-flyer:
The hospital can sway 74 inches (37 inches in each direction) and withstand an 8.0 magnitude earthquake.
There is over 24 Million pounds of steel which is equivalent to 57 Boeing 747s.
There will be over 300 new trees planted onsite.
The hole will be over 7 stories deep -- twice the depth of the LPCH (b. note: that's the children's hospital adjacent to the current main hospital) site!
At peak construction there will be over 1000 construction workers onsite and it will take over 5.5 million man-hours to complete the hospital.
There are 368 patient rooms, 28 Interventional Procedure rooms and 22 elevators.
When the Hospital is complete over 2000 computers will be installed.
There are 871 miles of Category 6A cable and 21 miles of fiber optic cable, which could stretch from San Jose, CA to Santa Fe, NM.
The emergency generators are capable of producing 12.5 MW of electrical power.
There is a team of over 300 architects and design consultants, as well as 80 subcontractors and specialty vendors from across the country working on the Future Stanford Hospital.
There are 206 Seismic Isolators (building shock absorbers) each capable of supporting 2 million lbs.
There is enough wiring, if laid out in a single wire, would stretch 1,400 miles, which is the distance from San Francisco, CA to Dallas, TX.
There are 871 miles of Category 6A cable and 21 miles of fiber optic cable, which could stretch from San Jose, CA to Santa Fe, NM.
There are over 110 miles of metal studs and over 3,700 tons of dry wall.
The excavation for the NSH (b.: I think that's just for New Stanford Hospital) and NSH Parking Garage is over 200,000 cubic yards and will need 20,000 truckloads.

and, related, they're going to use this: The Catapult Scraper can pick up 81,000lbs of dirt at one time
part of the groundbreaking is the opportunity for attendess to have their photo taken with it, heh.
