It's cheap to play with friends and get going. A football costs $20 and you can play two hand touch. Hockey sticks aren't cheap and they break.

You could play roller hockey in the street to get into the game. It wouldn't cost a fortune but it's just easier to grab some friends to throw a football around than it is to slap the puck around.
