it was a bigger deal in the seventies (and before) than the eighties when being gay (and having AIDS) was starting to become acceptable.
the gay/bi rumours of Elton, Bowie, Rod Stewart, etc., etc., etc. were massive in the seventies.
why do you think the big things to put people down were cocksucker and fag back then. in the eighties it became asshole.
