We were dealing with realtors working for builders. These people were delusional about the state of the market at the time. They had inventory that wasn't moving and their prices were out of whack.
Two years later when the market crashed, they *raised* prices. I went back and forth with a couple realtors on the subject. Their explanation was that there was a cost to maintain the properties. I countered that the issue wouldn't be solved by raising prices as people's financials went into a tailspin.
The primary builder went bankrupt using this philosophy. Somehow, he closed his business, started a new business and re-acquired many of his key properties. The entire process was infuriating.
