It's a bit of apples and oranges. Or Apple and Netflix.

One is purchased downloads while the other is licensed streaming. While the former can certainly carry DRM, cutting off someone's right to play back something they understood to own in perpetuity can really bite them, as Amazon learned when they pulled some Kindle books.
