LYC: My wife just got a speeding ticket... ass of a cop.

She was on one of the loooong ramps up to the highway and started to speed up to enter the highway. Came over a hill, and a police officer was parked on the side of the road and was not in his car, stepped in to the street, and motioned her to pull over.

he took her license, she said "Why am I being pulled over?" and he said "Clocked you at 50 in a 40". "I thought this was an on ramp to the highway." "Well it isn't now, is it?"

He walked away, came back, handed her a ticket, didn't say anything and went back to his car.

Sounds pretty sketchy to me. No way he could have been clocking her, he didn't have a radar gun out, just stepped into the street as she came over a hill. Allie was taking folks to the airport and decided rather than argue with him, it was less costly for her to get the ticket and deal later than for folks to miss their flights.

$227 for 10 over. The hell? To court with us.

Having quite a bit of experience with speeding tickets, I guarantee the limit is posted on that ramp. I'd also wager that it was a pair of cops - Jim May 2, 08:47
