This is why you ask about their precautions, same as any other house with any other dangers.

really? This is too hard a thing to do?
My kids are going swimming. I'm going to damn sure make certain that there is some sembelence of supervision while at the neighbor's house with the pool before I let them.
this isn't tough or any level of backbone required.
