I agree that had they dialed down the action just a bit it may have benefited the story...

however, I'm still sort of amazed they were able to pack as much story through all that action. It takes a talented script to do that as we've all seen movie after movie which was empty and devoid of anything save for the mind numbing action sequences.
A little less action may have helped the story but I'm not sure it would have improved the movie.
