a bay area newstalk station's morning program has our lt. governor, gavin newsome, on fairly regularly, stemming from when he was mayor of san francisco; and the topic came up earlier this year.

they did some fb polling and such; and, in part due to not wanting any of the biggies to feel left-out, he made official (while jerry brown was out of the country, but Gavin did let him know in advance what he was going to do):

fruit: avocado
vegetable: artichoke
nut: almond
grain: rice
