really, something like big hero 6 shows exactly why disney bought marvel. it has little to do with the underlying books....

what they want to be able to do is mine that library stuff for potential properties to exploit & eventually license. they can pull something like big hero 6 out and float it into a movie & then if it's successful in that incarnation it can be further licensed out into whatever other endless ancillary streams they can make money off of. i'm sure it's not coincidental that the property centers on japanese characters, which means they can sell it easily into multiple markets and even work with its characters at tokyo disney down etc. the line if they want.
and if it's not successful, the downside is limited because the screeching fanboys don't have enough invested in it to make a lot of fuss. iit's really kind of evocative of what they did this for in the first place.
